Susan J. Irwin is President of Irwin Communications, Inc., which she founded in 1985. She has chaired SATCON since its inception in 2002. Irwin Communications provides strategic consulting services to major corporations worldwide, including satellite operators, hardware and software manufacturers, broadcasters, investment firms and end users. Ms. Irwin’s primary focus is on satellite applications, technologies and trends, which include fixed and mobile satellite services for the government, enterprise, media and consumer markets.

Ms. Irwin has played key roles in the satellite industry since 1977, was a Telecom Analyst and Program Manager with the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and on the start-up teams of Private Satellite Network and the National Information Utilities Corporation. She is widely published, a co- founder and Director Emeritus of SSPI, Chairperson of the Global VSAT Forum’s Broadband Multimedia Working Group, a Director of the Arthur C. Clarke Foundation, and on the Advisory Board of Near Earth, LLC, an investment banking firm.
