Liebowitz is Principal Engineer, Networking and Distributed Systems, at the MITRE Corportation, MacLean, Virginia where he provides technical, ecomomic and business case analyses of wireless-based IP networks. Prior to MITRE he was an independent consultant to satellite services companies. He specialized in the design of and cost estimates for IP-based satellite networks and content delivery systems. Mr. Liebowitz was President and Chief Operating Officer of NetSat Express Inc., a leading provider of satellite-based Internet services to ISPs and corporations around the world. He was responsible for day-to-day operations, and for developing the business models defining NetSat’s future growth. Previously he was Chief Technical Officer for Loral Orion, (now Cyberstar) a satellite common carrier. He was responsible for the development of Internet-over-satellite access products and for the design and implementation of Orion’s network management system. Before that, Mr. Liebowitz was Principal Engineer at the MITRE Corporation where he worked on systems engineering projects for the FAA. Prior to MITRE, he was President of the Sombers Group, Senior Vice President at Contel Information Systems and Executive Vice President at International Computing Company. Mr. Liebowitz is the author of two books on distributed processing and numerous articles on highly reliable, high performance computing and communications systems. He has lectured extensively on Internet-over-satellite and computer networking. He holds three patents for satellite-based telecommunications systems. He has developed a widely acclaimed seminar on IP networking over satellite, which has been presented to government and commercial enterprises in the United States and Europe. Mr. Liebowitz received the B.E.E. and M.S. in Mathematics degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an M.S.E.E. degree from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn. |
