Shaum Mittal
Chief, Lead System Engineering Office, Prgrm Exe Office- Satellite, Teleport & Services (PEO-STS) Directorate DISA
Shaum Mittal is the Chief of Lead Systems Engineering Office with in the Program Executive Office for SATCOM, Teleport & Services (PEO-STS) Directorate at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) in Falls Church, Virginia. As the Lead Systems Engineer, he serves as the technical consultant to the Director (PEO-STS) on all technical aspects and oversees the implementation of Systems Engineering processes across all Programs within the PEO-STS portfolio. Previous to this, he served as the chief of the SATCOM and Wireless Engineering Division in the Global Information Grid Enterprise Services Engineering (GE) Directorate at DISA. Under his leadership, the SATCOM & Wireless Engineering Division conducted periodic Enterprise loading analysis to assess the Military Satellites capacity and recommendations regarding supplemental use of Commercial SATCOM resources as well as reviews and analysis of current and future Wideband SATCOM architectures to satisfy communications requirements of the warfighters.
Prior to joining DISA, Mr. Mittal worked at Hughes Network Systems (HNS) as the Senior Director of Marketing and Programs for VSAT and TDMA systems in the SATCOM Division and at American Satellite Company as an Assistant Vice President and head of the Advance Communications Development Engineering Division. He holds a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from University of Notre Dame and undergraduate degrees in Electrical Communications Engineering from Indian Institute of Sciences in Bangalore, India. Mr. Mittal has presented numerous papers and served on technical panels at various conferences. Currently he is serving as the Military & Government Track Chair for the SATCON conference.
